Second Degree and Post-Baccalaureate students are individuals who have received a bachelor’s degree from another institution and want to enroll in additional undergraduate level courses. Second Degree students are degree seeking while Post-Baccalaureate students are not wanting to earn a second undergraduate degree, only take courses for earned credit.
Note: If you have ever attended Georgia Southwestern before, you should apply as a Re-Admit Student through the Office of the Registrar.
Second Degree Students - Degree Seeking
To Apply:
- Students applying as a Second Degree Student should complete the online application.
- On page 3 of the application for "Application Type" they should select "Second Baccalaureate Degree."
- Then follow the same admission process as a transfer student.
- Like Transfer Students, Second Degree Students must also send official transcripts from all previous institutions.
Second Degree Students are eligible for federal financial aid if they qualify.
Post-Baccalaureate Students - Non-Degree Seeking
To Apply:
- Students applying as a Post-Baccalaureate Student should complete the online application.
- On page 3 of the application for "Application Type" they should select "Second Baccalaureate Degree."
- When applying, email admissions@gsw.edu and indicate you plan to be a Post-Baccalaureate Student and do not wish to complete a degree.
- Then follow the same admission process as a transfer student with the following exception.
- Unlike Transfer Students, Post-Baccalaureate Students must only send one official transcript that shows the completion of a Bachelor's degree.
- If any desired courses require prerequisite classes, Southwestern must also receive an official transcript showing completion of that course.
Post-Baccalaureate Students are not degree-seeking and therefore are not eligible for federal financial aid.
Southwestern will only maintain a record of non-enrolling student test scores and transcripts for 3 years. Admission applications and fees are only kept for two years.
