Students: 

  • Log into RAIN (https://rain.gsw.edu) using the "Secured Login " option from the drop-down.
  • Once you're logged in to RAIN, click "Personal Information ", then "View E-mail Addresses ".
  • One of the email addresses should be "<user>@radar.gsw.edu ". This is your student email address. The part before the '@' symbol is the username you need to log on and check your email.

Employees:

  • To receive your email account and password, pick up your Email form from our offices in Morgan Hall (You must bring photo ID).  You will be given instructions on the form to change your password upon logging in the first time.  You will also need to register for the Password Reset Service (security questions).

Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) provides Microsoft Office free to every student and employee. Office 365 includes the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and more. As long as you’re a student or employee at GSW, you’ll be able to use this software for free.  Install on up to 5 compatible PCs and Macs, plus 5 tablets (including iPad!)  (Employees may not install on GSW owned equipment)

  • To get your copy of Office, follow these simple steps:
  • Visit http://www.office.com
  • Sign in with your Radar email address and your CanesNet password.
  • On the download site, select your language and click install.
  • For students, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 229-928-1331 or from your Radar email address you may email them at gswreg@gsw.edu.
  • For employees, please contact IIT via technical support.

Login using your CanesNet Credentials

  • Students, you will need to use the entire Radar email address.
  • Faculty/Staff, you will need to use the entire GSW email address.

GoVIEW username is the part of your GSW email address before the ‘@’ symbol plus a “_gsw” extension:

  • For example, if the CanesNet username is jfoe3, the GoVIEW username will change to jdoe3_gsw

You have to set up your GoVIEW password:

  • When you log in for the first time, BEFORE entering anything in the username and password fields, click the Forgot Password? link on the login page
  • On the next page, enter your GoView username (with "_gsw ") and click the Submit button
  • An email with the password reset link will be resent to your GSW Radar email account (for faculty: GSW email account) from donotreply@donotreply.view.usg.edu
    • You have to set up/reset your password within 72 hours
    • The password is case sensitive and must contain no less than 10 characters

Please note that you can reset your passwords from the login page at any time. You don't need to contact GeorgiaVIEW Help, just click the Forgot your Password? link and follow the on-screen instruction. 

  • Ideally, buy a computer with the faster processor you can afford. Also, buy one with the most RAM you can afford. Windows or Mac operating systems are merely a personal preference.
    • Windows 10 Home edition or higher for Windows machines. Machines running Windows 7, Windows 8, or Win S-Mode is not supported.
  • Depending on your major, your college of study may have some recommendations as well.
  • Before you can connect to the GSW Network your computer will need to have:
    • virus software installed and set for auto update
    • virus check inducted
    • critical updates for OS installed and set to auto update

Each semester a portion of the $50 student technology fee is used to purchase and support printers, paper, and toner in all GSW open computer labs. GSW technology fee funds are allocated according to University System of Georgia guidelines to ensure support for student campus computing and adequate access to instructional software packages. The proper allocation of technology fee resources is essential to ensuring that the latest technology is available to students.

Each student receives $10 of CanesNet printing credits per semester to be used in the GSW computer labs to print up to 100 sheets. Additional CanesNet printing credits may be purchased from Students Accounts (in Marshall Student Center) or the front desk in the Library. Each CanesNet printing card costs $5 and is good for printing up to fifty sheets.

If there are problems with a print job, students are asked to email techsupp@gsw.edu with name, phone number, radar email address, date/time, and a brief description of the problem.
